Some leaderboards rank you by how much money you are willing to spend. This one ranks you by how long you can go without blinking. It is not obvious which is the more dignified currency, but only one of them is free.
Rank is the stare. Nothing else. You cannot bid, sponsor, upgrade or subscribe your way up. Your row links to your X or your website, so there is something in it for you — but where that row sits is decided entirely by your own tear ducts.
Your camera stays yours
The video never leaves your device. It is not streamed anywhere, not recorded, and not uploaded — your browser watches your face on its own and only sends back a handful of numbers about how open your eyes are.
The single exception is the photo on your row, taken at one moment during your stare. Nothing is published until you submit, and if you do not submit, nothing about your attempt is kept at all.
The awkward part
You do not get to pick the photo. It is taken at a moment you are not told about, while you are staring, which is not how anyone looks their best. That is rather the point.
